Fukuoka Mayor Announces Plans for Kyushu’s Largest Skate Park

Fukuoka, Japan – January 7, 2025
In a move to promote safe recreational spaces and address ongoing community concerns, Fukuoka Mayor Sōichirō Takashima officially announced plans for a new public skateboarding park during a press conference held on January 7, 2025.
This dedicated skate park project aims to provide a safe and controlled environment for local skateboarders, while also reducing noise disturbances and safety hazards in urban areas throughout Fukuoka. The initiative reflects growing interest in action sports across Japan and aligns with the city’s commitment to youth-friendly urban development.
The project is expected to enhance the quality of life for both skateboarders and nearby residents, and is part of a broader city effort to create inclusive, recreational public spaces in Fukuoka and surrounding areas like Sasebo.
